Privacy Policy
Draft version: draft-2026-10-06 · Updated October 6, 2026
This policy covers CallJake's early-access waitlist and helper sign-ups. We're starting with USC. It does not cover a live video-session service that has not launched yet.
[LAWYER] Review this draft before launch, including teen privacy requirements, the operator's legal name and address, service providers, and the retention and SMS processes. The contact address below is a placeholder and must be confirmed.
What we collect
- Student waitlist: first name, email, high school, graduation year, age group (13–17 or 18+), up to three dream schools or a school you type in, and the help topics you select. A mobile number is optional. If you're under 18, we also ask for a parent or guardian's email.
- Helper phone sign-up at /earn: your mobile number, the campaign source in the link you used, an incoming referral code if present, and a referral code and sign-up number we generate for you. The pilot is for current USC undergraduate students who are 18 or older.
- A fuller helper application, if requested: name, school and school email, mobile number, class year, major, former high school, hometown, help topics, availability, work-authorization answer, and acceptance of coaching rules and background-check screening. A sign-up alone does not run a background check.
- Sign-up records: submission and update timestamps, repeat-submission counts, application status where applicable, campaign source, SMS choices and consent timestamps, and the applicable terms or consent version. If you contact us, we also receive what you choose to share in that conversation.
These forms do not ask for passwords, Social Security numbers, payment details, exact birth dates, essays, or recordings. We do not store IP addresses in our sign-up database. Please do not send sensitive documents in a waitlist request.
Why we use it
We use your information to save and manage your sign-up, contact you about early access or becoming a helper, understand which schools and topics students want, evaluate helper applications, and track campaign and referral activity. We keep consent records to understand which messages you agreed to receive.
A referral code lets us associate a new sign-up with an earlier one. Sharing your referral link does not give you access to another person's phone number or application details.
Students under 18 and parent contact
The student waitlist is for ages 13 and up. Under-13 sign-ups are blocked. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 13, we will delete it; a parent can contact us to report it.
For ages 13–17, we collect a parent or guardian's email to contact them about setting up the account before the first call. We do not use that address for marketing. Providing an email does not by itself verify a parent's permission.
[LAWYER] Confirm the parent permission and account setup process before offering sessions to minors, and confirm how students and guardians can exercise privacy rights.
Email and text choices
We use a student waitlist email for early-access updates. Student launch texts are optional and require selecting the SMS checkbox. Helper-program texts are limited to up to 4 messages a month. Message and data rates may apply.
You can stop texts by replying STOP, or by contacting us to withdraw consent. You can ask us to stop email updates too. Stopping texts does not automatically delete your sign-up; you can request deletion separately. Consent to promotional texts is not a condition of buying a service.
[LAWYER] The current /earn draft presents consent beneath its sign-up button. An explicit SMS opt-in checkbox and a way to express helper interest without marketing consent must be implemented before recruiting by text. Confirm sender details, consent wording, opt-out handling, and any consent records that must be kept.
Who receives information
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Only people who need it to operate the waitlist and helper program should have access. We use Microsoft Azure to host the website and API and store sign-ups in Postgres. Messaging providers may receive the contact details needed to deliver messages when that service is configured.
The pages load a font from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google. Hosting and font providers may process connection information, such as an IP address, to deliver their services even though our sign-up database does not store it. The forms do not use advertising trackers.
[LAWYER] Confirm provider contracts and infrastructure logging, and review any disclosures required by law or necessary to respond to a security incident. We will update this policy before introducing materially different data uses.
How long we keep it
We delete your sign-up information on request. We also delete unconverted waitlist records, including student entries and helper leads that have not become active accounts or approved helpers, 12 months after their original sign-up date. Submitting the same form again does not restart that period. If you become a user or helper, we will explain the data and retention terms for that service before onboarding.
[LAWYER] Confirm and implement deletion across related records and providers, backup expiry, and any narrowly required retention of consent or opt-out records. If the law requires keeping a particular record, explain what is retained, why, and for how long when responding to the request.
Your information and questions
You or your parent or guardian can request access, a correction, deletion, or an end to messages by contacting hello@calljake.app (TBD — placeholder contact). We may ask for enough information to verify that the request concerns your record. Do not send an ID document unless we explain a necessary, secure verification process.
See our Terms for eligibility and coaching rules.
